There is a need to empower female sports writers in South Africa. Opportunities are few and far between and most newsrooms continue to be male dominated.
As part of the capacity building program of the #gsport15 campaign, we are introducing The Writer’s Block – an initiative to advance women in print and showcase some of the leading writers in our country.
The Writer’s Block will also include emerging writers who are seeking to make a name for themselves in the industry.
This opportunity is open exclusively to gsport members only.
To apply and join gsport Editor, Kass Naidoo’s Writer’s Block, in 100 words, write about the impact of gsport on the coverage of women’s sport in South Africa.
The successful candidates have the following qualities:
– Passionate about women’s sport – Committed to achieving deadlines – Good story tellers – Have at least 1-5 years experience in writing – Remuneration is calculated according to experience
Writers will be remunerated on a per word rate, in the following range
