Joseph Mathlong now heads the rankings.

Joseph Matlhong - Gauteng Provincial Champion.

MSSA's 36th Gauteng Provincial Championships held at Northcliff High School on 24 February 2018 threw some interesting results.

Out of nowhere, Joseph Matlhong (North West University - Vaal) in his very first provincial championship astounded players and spectators alike as he shot through to victory.

Joseph won all his matches except his third match, which he drew against Kamohlelo Tladi of Fakkel School of Skills. 

Thus not having won all of his matches, Joseph missed obtaining his provincial colours outright.

However, Joseph has vowed to win all his matches outright at the next MSSA provincial championship in which he plays.
