Results: Combined Online Provincial Championships for Schools held on 23 April 2022.

Armand Welgemoed of Hoërskool Klerksdorp is fast establishing himself as the athlete to beat in the Clash Royale esports title.

Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) held its annual Combined Online Provincial Championships for Schools on 23 April 2022 which was expertly umpired by Anneke Lourens Luies. Anneke has proven herself over the course of the year, having umpired over four events, that she is an able, and one of the best umpires, MSSA has ever had.

The event had schools participating from many of South Africa's provinces, which is showing the continued growth of esports at school level.

The championship is also important for helping athletes qualify for National Team Trials, as well as helping learner athletes prepare themselves for the 2022 NWU MSSA Online School League.

At the 2022 Combined Online Provincial Championships for Schools, seven esports titles were played, and 19 players were automatically awarded High School Provincial Colours for having won every single round in which they played - a fine achievement indeed!

It should be noted that CCL Knights, from Crawford College Lonehill, have qualified for the prestigious National Team Trials. The team selected at such trials shall fight at the African regional Championships for a berth to represent South Africa at IESF's World Esports Championships in Bali in late November this year.

REMINDER: Combined Online Provincial Championships for Schools - 23 April 2022

With COVID-19 still running amok, Mind Sports South Africa is not able to hold its popular annual Provincial School Championships for all provinces as a face-to-face event. When held as an event, the championships would be held in each province - on the same day - in order to afford all School Learners the opportunity of participating in, and winning, a provincial championship without players from neighbouring provinces attending.

Another important feature of this championship, is that it is open to any learner, whether or not the school is affiliated or not.

However, for team events, it is required that all members of the team are from the same school.

MSSA will thus be holding this event as an Online Provincial Championships on 24 April 2021

MSSA's Provincial School Championships for all provinces has thus not been replaced by this event, the Championship has merely been delayed until the situation permits. Thus MSSA will relook at a date for the Provincial School Championships for all provinces. Players too, will be able to play from their own homes.

MSSA's Provincial School Championships for all provinces, which will offer local players the opportunity to qualify for selection to the national squad and for the Protea Team that will attend IESF's World Esports Championships to be held in Bali in 2022 should they meet the criteria.
