Being awarded Regional Colours

The first step in climbing the ladder to earn the prestigious and much sought after Protea Colours is ob
taining Regional Colours.

Regional Colours are the first rung of the ladder. The second being Provincial Colours. Regional Colours may be earned at MSSA's Regional Championships and Derby events.

Regional Colours are awarded to:
  • Persons selected by MSSA to represent the Region in which he/she is ordinarily resident in a team, or
  • Persons who have finished in the top three of an individual event in such Derby and/or Regional Championship, or
  • Persons who have finished in first place if a team event in such Derby and/or Regional Championship
Even a member of a club not affiliated to Mind Sports South Africa may qualify for such colours if having won the event.

Readers should too note that such colours are awarded to the player based on where such player is ordinarily resident.

It should be noted that South Africa has 56 regions, and MSSA is determined to establish regional championships in each and every one of them.

Revisions to MSSA's Calendar of Events for 2021.

The COVID-19 pandemic has taught all that they have to be able to think outside of the box, and to adapt to situations on an almost daily basis. Thus in these uncertain times where we all have to accept that COVID-19 is here to stay Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has revised its Calendar of Events for 2021. Should the proposed vaccines be in place, MSSA expects to resume business as usual and hold its face-to-face championships.

In the meantime, however, MSSA has provided for the worst-case scenario.

As such, MSSA has provided for both online and face-to-face events.

MSSA will always put the well-being of all its members first, and will therefore adjust its Calendar of Events from time-to-time to meet the circumstances and the requirements of its membership.

The safety of MSSA's members is MSSA's first priority.

Registered Players are reminded that the online championships are part of the process for qualifying for provincial colours and national team selection.

Thus MSSA has released the following Calendar of events or 2021:
