Start of MSSA's NWU Online School League delayed to 1 August 2022.


Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has agreed to delay the MSSA NWU Online School League to 1 August 2022 due to a number of schools applying to affiliate in order to have itheir learners take advantage of this wonderful oportunity. 

The prizes for MSSA's NWU Online School League are divided into three categories:

  • Overall purse prize being a bursary (courtesy of NWU to the value of R30,000.00 and R5,000.00 for the CS:GO, DotA 2, FIFA 2022, Mobile Legends Bang Banc, and Street Fighter V esports titles,
  • Prizes for the best female athletes, and
  • Best school award (R4,000.00).
Even though only six (6) of the eleven (11) titles carry the fabulous prizes as sponsored by North West University (NWU), it should be noted that that ALL titles offered do count towards:

  • Participation in National Team Trials, and
  • School Provincial Colours
  • Best school award

In keeping with Mind Sport South Africa's policies re development programmes, entries are free and gratis to registered players who are unable to afford to enter such championships should the designated school official formally request assistance. Players who are registered with any affiliated school may participate.
  • Only a designated school official may enter a school team  consisting of at least one athlete.
  • Entry fees must be deposited directly into Mind Sports South Africa's account, held at ABSA Bank, account number, 90 4766 7676
  • Entries are R50.00 per player and photographs of all athletes must accompany such entry.
  • No entries shall be accepted without MSSA having received proof of payment.

  • Entries close on Sunday, 31 July 2022.
The following Medals may be awarded at MSSA's 2022 Annual Inter-School League:

  • PRIMARY SCHOOL (FEMALE): Medals shall be awarded to the first three high school scholars.
  • HIGH SCHOOL (MALE): Medals shall be awarded to the first three high school scholars.
  • PRIMARY SCHOOL (MALE): Medals shall be awarded to the first three high school scholars.
Please note the medals shall be awarded at a MSSA offline event.

Colours and National Team Trials:
All Players who score within the top 50% in a specific Period at a Provincial Championship, and who also score within the top 50% at MSSA's 2019 Annual Inter-School League in the same period and in the same year, shall earn Provincial Colours.

It must be remembered that only schools affiliated to MSSA may participate in the 2022 NWU Online Schools League.

National Team Trials - 30 July 2022

 

Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has announced the date of its 
National Team Trials to be 30 July 2022.

It should be noted that Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) during the COVID-19 period has made some important changes to National Team Trials (NTT) from which shall also be used for selecting the 2022/2023 National Protea Esports Squads.

The changes are that the eve
nt shall be held online in order to ensure the safety and well-being of its athletes.

However, players can play online with the following proviso's:
  1. Player's in the same team entered from the same province shall play from the same venue, and
  2. Players in the same team from different provinces may play from different provinces, and
  3. Players participating in individual titles (1v1) from the same club and who reside in the same province shall play from the same venue, and
  4. All venues must have a club member in attendance, and
  5. All clubs entering players shall have an accredited umpire at their venue from which their players are participating. Such umpire may not be a participant in the NTT.
MSSA shall select the highest placed team and/or individual based on:
  1. Confirmation to attend events (test matches and other matches), and,
  2. Clearance from stimulants.
All Registered Players who have qualified at MSSA's Regional, and/or Provincial, and/or National Championships are cordially invited to enter.

To have qualified, a Registered Player shall have:
  • Have finished in the top three places, or top 20% (whichever is greater), in a Provincial or National Championship, and/or
  • Have won a Regional Championship, and/or
  • Have won a Derby event, and or
  • Have represented South Africa in an international championship in 2021.
The following titles shall be played at the 2022 National team Trials:
  • Clash Royale
  • COD Mobile
  • Counter-Strike: GO
  • Dota 2
  • FIFA 22
  • Hearthstone
  • League of Legends
  • Mobile Legends, Bang, Bang
  • PUBG Mobile
  • StreetFighter V
  • Tekken 7
The conditions for entry are as follows:

  1. Entry is R100.00 per Registered Player.
  2. Only fully-paid-up Registered Players may participate in this event.
  3. Entries for National Team Trials must be submitted by 29 July 2022.
  4. To enter, the club must complete the Google Drive document.

  6. Clubs are to download the entry form, completed the downloaded form, and e-mail it to Mind Sports South Africa. 
  7. Players making themselves eligible for selection, shall submit copies of their valid Passports with their other documentation to the National Team Manager upon meeting the above criteria for selection.

The Documents required are as follows:
  1. Copy of South African Passport.
  2. Signed Senior or Junior Contract (Please note a parent or guardian will need to sign if the player is under 18 years of age).
  3. Copy of an Unabridged Birth Certificate for players under the age of 18
  4. Proof of vaccination against COVID-19.
National team trials shall begin at 10H00 and end at 18H00. MSSA officials will be on duty all day to assist with any queries you might have.

All revved up and ready to go.

Tristan de Nobrega (ZAG Academy) and Charl Wilken (Knights Mind Sports Club) will represent South Africa in the Protea Esports Team in the Sim Racing World Cup.

Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) recently held its National Qualifiers, albeit on very short notice from International Esports Federation (IESF), to select its Protea Team to represent South Africa in the Simracing World Cup.

The two renowned athletes selected to defend South Africa's honour are non other than:

  • Tristan de Nobrega (ZAG Academy), and
  • Charl Wilken (Knights Mind Sports Club)
In order to get to the final stage to be held in Monaco later this year, the athlte has to participate in a Continental Qualifier. 

A total of 39 countries will participate in the Continental Qualifiers for Sim Racing World Cup 2022 and only the TOP 12 drivers will head their way off to MONACO as per the following slots:

- Europe: 3

- Africa: 2

- America: 2

- Asia: 2

- Oceania: 1

Wildcards for Monaco and Slovakia = 12 best sim racers in Monaco.

 

The Continental Qualifiers will be held from 26th of July 6 p.m. CET to 29th of July 6 p.m. CET

 

However, it must be noted that two (2) sim racers of the same country cannot qualify for the Grand Final with only the fastest sim racer from such country going through.


All of MSSA, and indeed South Africa, stand squarely behind the Protea Team and wish both sim racers all the very best.

Reallocation of prize money to the FIFA esports title.


Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) originally allocated the prize money to the esports title 'eFootball', as published by Konami, but since such esports title does not allow person to person play over the  internet, MSSA has agreed to reallocate the prize money to the EA SPORTS™ FIFA 2022 sports titles.

With the MSSA's NWU Online School League about to start on 25th of July 2022 esports athletes devoted to the FIFA 2022 esports title now stand to participate in the generous prize money as offered by North West University (NWU).

  • National Team Trials: All Players that score within the top 20% or top three places, whichever is greater, in a specific Period at a Provincial or National Championship will be eligible for selection for the National Squad. 

It must be remembered that only schools affiliated to MSSA may participate in the 2022 NWU Online Schools League.
