MSSA selects a new National Esports Team Manager.

Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has just appointed a new National Team Manager (NTM) for esports in the person of Johan van Breda (ZAG Academy).

The duties of the National Team Manager includes preparing the national team, organising test matches (both online and LAN), overseeing coaching of the team, axing non compliant team members, and accompanying the team to events.

One such event is IESF's 10th World Championships - Kaoshuing to which MSSA has already entered teams to participate in Counter-Strike: GO, League of Legends, and  Tekken 7.

Thus the National Team Manager carries great  responsibility, for, it is on the NTM's broad shoulders that the national team's hopes and dreams are carried.

It is a hard position to hold, and it is not for the faint of heart, it is for those who want to go the extra mile.

It should be remembered that MSSA's rankings at IESF World Championships are:

Southern5 takes MSSA's Online Provincial Championships title for the Counter-Strike: GO esports title.

With Mind Sports South Africa's National Team Trials (NTT) drawing ever closer, the ante has been raised at MSSA's Online Provincial Championships to see just who will represent South Africa in the Counter-Strike: GO esports title.

Southern5, under the leadership of Richard Ellis Brown, romped home to a well deserved victory in which the newly affiliated team defeated all of their opponents.

With Southern5 having won MSSA's Online Provincial Championships, the team has qualified for National Team Trials (NTT).Southern5 was only formed in the start of 2018, with a core of players from the previous Pulse lineup. Making a few roster changes along the way in the form of Michael Bishop (Crucial) and

Willie van Graan (Consp1racy). Southern5 is now dedicated towards achieving their goal of being one of the best teams in the country.

MSSA's NTT shall be held on 2 & 3 June 2018 at Vereeniging Gimnasium.

The team selected from such trials shall attend IESF's 10th World Championships to be held at Kaohsuing City on 6^th – 13^th November 2018.

Road to Kaohsuing - IESF announces the dates of the 10th World Esports Championships.

Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has participated in every IESF World Championships since the inception of such World Championships in 2009.

International Esports Federation's World Championships has  grown from a mere 150 participants from 20 countries to 455 participants from 39 countries.
Already, the International Esports Federation (IESF) has announced the various esports titles to be played, being:

• Counter-Strike: GO,
• League of Legends, and
• Tekken 7.

On 18 April 2018, IESF released the dates of such World Championships being November 6^th – 13^th, 2018.

The announcement of the dates follow a rather extensive site inspection of the venue at Kaohsuing City. At such site inspection IESF officials not only inspected the site, but also signed a MOU with Kaohsuing City.

Thus, with all the pieces falling neatly into place, it looks as though it will be a truly memorable World Championships.

Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has participated in every IESF World Championships since the inception of such World Championships in 2009.

International Esports Federation's World Championships has  grown from a mere 150 participants from 20 countries to 455 participants from 39 countries.

South Africa, too has a proud track record and is consistently is ranked among the top countries in the world.

South Africa too has finished in the medals, and in 2012 Gabriela Isaacsb (SAHETI) finished in second place in the female division for StarCraft II.

Already,the International Esports Federation (IESF) has announced the various esports titles to be played, being:

• Counter-Strike: GO,
• League of Legends, and
• Tekken 7.

MSSA's Management Board has thus agreed to send a team to compete in all the esports titles of Counter-Strike: GO, League of Legends, and Tekken 7 at such IESF's 10th World Championships - Kaohsuing City.

There are only 3 senior Provincial esports championships left before MSSA's National Team Trials (NTT) which are to be held on 2 & 3 June 2018, the race is on to see who will be selected.

The three events left are:

• 23rd North West Championships - 24 & 25 March 2018, and
• MSSA's Annual Online Provincial Championships - 21 April 2018, and
• 17th Mpumulanga Championships - 26 & 27 May 2018.

Trials for any title (period) are always held at the discretion of Mind Sports South Africa.

The venue for the National Team Trials shall be announced within the 1st week of April of each year.

National Team Trials for esports shall be held on 2 and 3 June 2018.

The criteria to qualify for such trials are:

• All Registered Players who win a Regional Championship shall earn an  invitation to National Team Trials.
• All Registered Players that score within the top 20% or top three places, whichever is greater, in a specific Period at a Provincial or National Championship shall earn an invitation to National Team Trials.
• All players who are members of the current Protea Squad automatically earn a berth at the National Team Trials (NTT) should they have met their obligations in terms of participation at MSSA events.

On 11 July 2017, Geneva Gaming Convention stated:

"You may have heard the rumor, we would like to offer our candidacy to host Geneva in 2018 the 10th edition of the world Esports Championship, in cooperation with the Swiss e-Sports Federation and IeSF (International e-Sports Federation).

Our file has to be finalized at the end of the summer, if you want to be part of the adventure and come brainstorm with us on this idea.

A first appointment is scheduled this Thursday, July 13th and will take place from 16H00 to 22H00 at the Fondetec.
