Victory over Madagascar - now on to Namibia!

Matthew Raubach, Captain of the Protea Team for the DotA 2 Esports Title, has overseen a spectacular victory over Madagascar.

As usual, Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has entered its team into all the game titles offered by IESF for its 2025 World Esports Championships (WEC25).

Both the male and female Protea Counter Strike 2 esports teams have chalked up impressive wins.

Now it is the turn for the Protea Team for the DotA 2 esports title!

IESF's Regional Championship playoffs - AEC25 - for the South African DotA 2 esports title team began with a match against Madagascar. Unfortunately the match was not streamed!

From beginning to end, South Africa dominated the match and won both games (that make up a match) with great ease.

South Africa won the first game 44 - 5. In the second game, Madagascar rallied a little to provide stiffer competition, but still succumbed with South taking the game 41 -18.

It was clear that in both games, South Africa was in a class of its own.

With the victory over Madagascar, South Africa now moves on to battle against Namibia.

Johan van Breda (National Team Manager) has stated that the Protea Team for the DotA 2 Esports Title should have no trouble in dispatching Namibia with the same ease that the Protea Team for the DotA 2 Esports Title dealt with Madagascar.

The match is being streamed, and all are welcome to watch the stream on

Forged in Battle

Jessica Eleez Greeff (Captain) and Avonique Van Rooyen readying themselves for battle against Australia.

The Female Protea CounterStike GO Esports Team rebounded well on 12 November 2024 at IESF's 16th World Esports Championships (WEC24) after their defeat against Spain. It is also expected that the Spanish team will finish in the top four teams at such World Championships in the female division.

The South African team took to the field against Norway. The first game saw South Africa down 5 - 7 at the end of the first half, but Jessie (the captain) rallied her team and lead them to a 13 - 10 victory. Norway fought fiercely in the second game to take the game 9 - 13, however, South Africa rallied in the third game to take the the game.

The jubilant, although exhausted South African team, after two and a half hours of play) then broke for dinner. However, the team was thrown a curveball by officials and were instructed top play against a fresh Australian team with only a 15 minute break.

Without time to recharge, strategise, the weary South African prepared once more for battle against Australia who had rested since the day before.

The first game caught the South African team off guard, and the Australians took the game 13 - 4.

Nevertheless, the South African team proved they were made of sterner stuff, and fought back fiercely in the second game to win 13 - 8, however, fatigue crept in on the third game, which ultimately lead to slower reaction times and Australia snatched victory 13 - 8 in the third and final game to win 2 games to 1.

Both Colin Webster (MSSA President), and Johan van Breda (National Team Manager), as well as all the team members are convinced that had the playing field been level, the result may possibly have been different. However, such is sport, teams have curveballs thrown again them, and MSSA's Female Protea CounterStike GO Esports Team behaved with true sportsmanship throughout and are a credit to the nation, the game, their clubs, and themselves.

"I couldn't be prouder of MSSA's Female Protea CounterStike GO Esports Team", said Colin Webster (MSSA President).

With 16 countries battling for the coveted title of World Champion, the South African Team which

SA's dream team!
already has the title of 2024 African Champion, not only represents South Africa, but also the hopes and dreams of all of Africa.

With 16 countries represented (of which only one is African - South Africa) for a prize pool of US$160,000.00, competition is fierce.

However, without doubt, this is the strongest South African female team to ever leave our shores to do battle. Even though South Africa narrowly lost to Spain on 11 November 2024 (7 - 13, and 5 - 13), South Africa has a chance to redeem themselves today on 12 November at 12H00 against Norway.

South Africa's match against Norway will be streamed on Twitch.tv/iesf_cs
