OKI Gaming is on the move.

OKI Gaming is up and ready for the 2021 year. The club has moved into a new facility (out of our old shack into a new house), and has been setting it up and finalizing its trai8ing schedule so that it can continue to train and teach players games other than EA's efootball sports title of FIFA. 

 OKI Gaming will be focusing on fighting games for the next 4 months (Street Fighter 5, Tekken 7 and Dragon Ball Z Fighter). After that the club will move into the realm of First Person Shooters (FPS) for 4 months. The club will concentrate on (Call of Duty, Apex Legends and Fortnite).

The club will then concentrate on sport games in the last stretch of the year as most new sport games are released after August of each year.

The club also intends to hold "biweekly tournaments", through which the club can assess the progress of each player being taught/developed, and monthly tournaments for the FIFA esports title, to generally accommodate the community. The management of OKI Gaming realize that the growth of any club is utterly dependent on having sustainable and effective outreach programmes.

However, all the above depends on the situation apropos COVID-19, but the club remains confident that things will work out well, given the solid foundations laid in 2020.

The club, based in Simunye (Westonaria), affiliated to Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) is "a shining light in terms of development among the community", according to MSSA President Amanda Kwaza.

The winner of the 'Paladins' esports title shall receive R10,000.00

Monument Park High School were crowned the SA Schools Champions at the recent SA Schools National Championships.

The 'Paladins' esports title made its debut in Mind Sports South Africa's (MSSA) school championships in 2012. Although a first person shooter (fps), the title only has an age restriction of 12+ making it far more appropriate for learners than other titles in the genre which have age restrictions of 16+.

Having a much lower age restriction, the title is far more open to development as team members are able to spend many years in a team before leaving school. Such will ultimately lead to an improved standard in playing skills, communication, and tactical ability.

In line with promoting age appropriate titles at school level, in order to remain within the law, and to ensure that no damage is done to a learner at any level, MSSA is pleased to anounce, that through its close association with North-West University (NWU) prize money of R10,000.00 shall be awarded to the school of the winning team in the NWU MSSA Online School League
.
The school may use such winnings for any project that the school deems fit, albeit, further developing their esports team etc.

Of course the winning team shall also be awarded its medals for winning, and may also earn High School Provincial Colours, as well as qualify ffor selection to the national team in 2020.

Meet MSSA's Stars: Johan van Breda

Johan van Breda

Johan van Breda is a student at the University of Johannesburg.

Johan broke into competitive gaming circles earlier this year at the Gauteng Provincial Championship for League of Legends.

Throughout his life nurtured an ever growing passion for gaming - especially those in the FPS and MOBA genre.

Having a burning desire to get more involved in competitive gaming Johan has the firm belief that the IeSF World Championships in Jakarta will be the first of many great adventures in this pursuit.

Johan realises to represent his country officially is a great honour.

Not only did he represent the country well in the Protea eSports League of Legends team, he did it in style and made all South Africans proud!

Johan too is confident that he will do even better in 2017.
