Curro Grantleigh streaks ahead.

Members of Team GLC (Curro Grantleigh) from Richards Bay. The team dominates the South African rankings for the League of Legends esports title.
Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA), with only weeks before its NWU MSSA Online School League, has released the updated rankings for the League of Legends esports title.

League of Legends is a team-based strategy game where two teams of five powerful champions face off to destroy the other's base. From over 140 champions are chosen to help the team battle its way to victory.


Curro Grantleigh is a loyal member, and the school team enters all of the events which it is able to enter in order tp hone their craft. The team, through many hours of competitive play have thus charged to the op of the rankings. All of the learners in the team have also earned the following awards in 2020:

The juggernaut that is Paul Roos Gimnasium.

Paul Roos Gimnasium's team 'PRG LOL B' consisting of (not in order) Gerald Gous, Christian Hamman, William Jardine, Adrian Crous, and Corne Calitz.
The points earned in Mind Sports South Africa's rankings are based on the ELO system. The Elo rating system is a method for calculating the relative skill levels of players in zero-sum games. It is named after its creator Arpad Elo, a Hungarian-American physics professor, and will over time show the skill levels of the teams and players.

At the end of 2018 the first three positions were held by (in order), Empangeni High School, Curro Grantleigh, and Northcliff High School, with Paul Roos Gimnasium not even being ranked.

However, after MSSA's 9th Online Schools' Provincial Championships, Paul Roos Gimnasium made a spectacular entry.

Moving from unseeded, Paul Roos Gimnasium now have a team ranked in 1st and 4th positions. Northcliff High School climbed one spot to now be ranked 2nd, while Curro Grantleigh managed to remain in the top three.

With the year just having started, it will be interesting to see if Paul Roos Gimnasium can hold onto its position, or will yield to the 'Old Guard' who are determined to hold onto their positions of authority.
