Paul Roos Gimnasium's DotA 2 team has establised itself as the top school team in the country. |
Thhe event was a stellar success with many new schools affiliating, and some older schools, where the esports programme had fallen awaay, returning to the fold.
There were schools entered from the majority of the country's provinces in this, the only official online championship.
Being an official championship, at which learners are able to earn Provincial Colours, there are tight regulations to protect the validity of the championships, the awards, the schools, and most importantly, the players.
For this reason, all schools that participate are affiliated. This allows MSSA, and the public at large, to know that the schools that are participating have permission from the schools to participate, and that the teams participatinng are officially participating.
All the teams then participate under the watchful eye of the Educator-in-charge (or a suitable representative) as it allows the Educator to enforce disciplline and the esprit de corps that is so essential in promoting esports as a school sport. With the teams also playing from centralised venues, the teams also enjoy a greater learning curve, and the standard of play improves exponentially. Thus Paul Roos Gimnasium only attiliated tto MSSA in 2018, and now has established itself as one of the schools to beat.
The winners of MSSA's Online School Provincial Championships are as follows:
