12th Online School Championships - 5 March 2022.

Roedean has been a member club in good standing for a number of years.

MSSA is proud to announce that it will once again hold its 12th School Provincial Online Championships on 5 March 2022.

The championship is very useful in helping learners prepare for the NWU Online School League to be held later in the year as well as may be used by gamers to qualify for eligibility to be selected for the National Squads, from which the National Teams shall be drawn, should MSSA need to choose a team for any of the titles played in such championships.

MSSA's School Online Championships has become South Africa's largest official online championship. It is an event that lasts from 10H00 until 18H00 and has proved itself to be a most enjoyable event.

The esports titles to be played in all MSSA's school championships and leagues are as follows:

MSSA would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the dedicated Educators for ensuring that the school teams are ready-and-able and for giving up so much of their time and patience. Only once the learners have left school will they really comprehend what the Educators have done for them.

Results: 2022 Online Western Cape Championships

Jonathan Brown (Team Playbell) who represented South Africa in Eilat in 2021, totally dominated Tekken 7 at the Online Western Cape Championships.

The online provincial championship system ensures that its esports athletes are not compromised in terms of being able to qualify for provincial colours and for possible inclusion in South Africa's National Protea Team to attend International Esports Federation's 14th World Esports Championships in November in Bali later this year.

Esports athletes were thus able to play in the comfort and safety of their own homes and are still capable of competing on provincial, and even, a national levels.

Mind Sports South Africa's (MSSA) 2022 Western Cape Online Provincial Championships proved to be a popular event with players participating from four (4) provinces. MSSA's Western Cape Online Provincial Championships allowed athletes to play around with perfecting new tactics and strategies leading up to the 2022 team selection.

Athletes are reminded that by finishing in the top 3, or top twenty percent - whichever is greater, at MSSA's Western Cape Online Provincial Championships, such athletes qualify to participate in the annual National Team trials which are used to select the national squad and for the Protea Team.

While the 'Old Guard' such as Jonathan Brown, Kyle Voster, Aidan Voster, and Theunis van der Merwe dominated their respective esports titles, it was refreshing and exciting to see newcomers, in the form of CAST_E-Sports Team 1, laying all to waste in the Call of Duty Mobile (CODM) title.

As seen in the past, so much is dependent on having strong administrators to ensure the success of both clubs and athletes. In the case of
Call of Duty Mobile, it is Crystal Hewitt who is the rock upon which the success of both club and athlete is built.

Nineteen (19) athletes were awarded provincial colours for the 2022 gaming year.

        With immediate effect.

With a number of additional titles being added by International Esports Federation (IESF) to its 14th World Esports Championships, and with the Commonwealth Esports Championships (CEC) to be staged in Birmingham on August 6 to 7, 2022, Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has to restructure the titles it hosts at all of its Provincial and National Championships.

The additional titles to be hosted by IESF and CEC shall be added onto the usual list of titles hosted by MSSA at its
Provincial and National Championships, and once the full list of new titles is known by MSSA, MSSA's Board shall rationalize the list by discharging the less popular titles in favour of the official titles.

However, the opinion of the Member Clubs shall be taken into account, and the number of titles offered by MSSA may have to be increased in the Regulations in order to accommodate the bodies to which MSSA is affiliated, the requirements to award Protea Colours, as well as the needs of the athletes themselves.

Thus the titles to be played in MSSA events with immediate effect, until further notice is given, are:
