Private clubs, university clubs, and school clubs all compete as equals at MSSA's Provincial and National Esports Championships. |
Mind Sports South Africa's Provincial and National Championships are the longest running championship of its kind in the world. MSSA held its first esports provincial championship in 1998 at the Old Edwardian Society, and has never looked back.
As such the championship is a beacon to many of the other national federations around the world which are attempting to copy the championship.
Such Provincial and National Championships are also the foundation for practically all private events held in South Africa, as all of the most influential operaters of such (Johann von Backström, Luca Tucconi, and Barry Louzada) have all passed through MSSA's doors.
The championships have grown from strength to strength each and every year.
The championships thus provide a solid foundation for manyy esports athletes where they can learn the discipline, ethics, cameraderie, and loyalty that they would in any other sport. It is the contribution made by such learners that will create the team that will represent South Africa at a future Olympic Games - if and when esports is admitted into such organisation.
It should be noted that MSSA's Championships are official championships and may qualify for Provincial and/or National Colours at such.
