Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has just been informed that International Esports Federation is launching its first Online Referee Program.

IESF's Online Referee Program was in the planning stages for a couple of years, so it is a bit of a surprise that member federations only have until Wednesday, December 9th, 2020 to make their nominations.

This means, that all MSSA Registered Players wishing to be considered must apply by 12H00 on Tuesday 8th, 2020 for consideration by MSSA's Board.

The Referee Program is one of the three pillars of the Global Esports R&D Center, located in Busan, South Korea, supported by Busan Metropolitan City and Busan IT Promotion Agency.

Following up on the Referee Academy conducted at the beginning of 2020, this online session will be the second opportunity for national referees to be trained for the international level in 2020.

International Esports Referee Program is dedicated to the development of standards and an intensive curriculum designed to educate and increase the expertise of national and international Esports referees. This is done in order to support the integrity of Esports and to contribute to the success of athletes, teams, and events on the world stage.

International Esports Federation (IESF) has just concluded yet another workshop held by its Referee Commission. Such workshop is part of the process of developing a comprehensive referee course designed for training referees for use at both national and international levels.

The course too is part of IESF’s endeavours to regulate esports and to create an environment that will benefit all esports athletes.

However, it should be noted, that it is through the continued support from Busan Metropolitan City, and Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (BIPA), the success of this worthwhile project. is ensured.

Through a formal accreditation process for referees, IESF’s referees’ course, and referees themselves shall set new standards and shall be in the forefront of raising esports to even greater heights.

IESF President, Colin Webster, stated, “In my opinion, referees are the front-line of all our member federations. As such, IESF is committed to capacitate such referees to the best of its ability so that such referees will help ensure the long-term growth and sustainability of esports.” It should be noted that Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has participated in this process from the very beginning, and as Amanda Kwaza (MSSA President) has stated, "MSSA hopes to see many South Africans benefit from the internationally structured referees' course".
