MSSA lines up even more international esports Test Matches.

Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has already held test matches against Azerbaijan (16 May 2020) and Namibia (25 April 2020). The test matches were a great success for MSSA's young Junior Protea DotA 2 Team. The experience in being able to participate against Azerbaijan's and Namibia's best has truly inspired the team to go further than before.

MSSA is now busy negotiating further test matches with Namibia, Azerbaijan, Nigeria and Peru.

The test matches will afford members of the National Squad to earn their Protea Colours even during this unpredictable time when sporting fixtures have been severely restricted due to the lockdown caused by COVID-19.

Esports Congress in Nigeria adopts a federal structure.

The Esports governing body in Nigeria, Nigerian Esports Association has taken another major step as part of its reform programme to meet global standard.

 At its sixth national congress hosted by the Nasarawa State Chapter of the body, it adopted a new name as Nigeria Esports Federation (NeSF).

The General Secretary of the Nigeria Esports Federation, Tewom Chrysantus Tah, said the decision for the new name was adopted in line with the recommendation of its last congress meeting in Abuja. During the meeting, it was resolved that states should be Associations while the national body should be called Federation.

The President of the Nigeria Esports Federation, Mr Agbor Clinton, reaffirmed that the body will continue with its objective of making the game of esports a household name in Nigeria. He said that the change of name is to meet up with global standard, stressing the need for all to embrace change and work for a better Nigerian Esports Federation.

State University to dopt the new name of federation

“Let me once again thank the Nasarawa State Chapter of the Nigeria Esports Federation for a successful hosting of the national congress. I must thank the Chairman/Coordinator Mallam Tanko Abdulahi and his  team for the high level of hospitality shown to the Nigeria eSports Federation here in the University of Nasarawa  Keffi, the venue of this congress. As part of our esports education drive, Nasarawa state University will play host to the first ever University esports competition to say a big thank you to the V C, management and entire students of the institution." said the president.

 Also speaking, the Chairman of Competitions and Sponsorship Mr. Kennedy Agbogo said plans are on the way for students competition in PS 3 and 4 as well as car racing in the Nasarawa State University, Keffi campus.

Mr. Kennedy further said that the top three winners will have their school fees paid as winners of the competition, ladies eSports players will also be given special treatment to encourage women in the game of eSports.

The Nigeria Esports Federation has mapped out special programmes to give the women opportunities to embrace esports in Nigeria as to be key players in the industries.

NIGERIA E SPORTS ON THE MOVE

The Nigerian Esports Association, the governing body of gaming activities in the country, has received a major boast in its activities towards promoting and developing esports  in Nigeria.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports and Youths Development in Nigeria, Mr Olusade Adesole, gave the words of encouragement to the Esports team while chatting with the president of the Nigerian Esports Association, Mr Agbor Clinton, at the MKO Abiola national Stadium Abuja.
   
Mr Adesole the permanent Secretary of Sports and Youths Development commended the president of the Nigerian Esport Association, Mr Agbor Clinton, for championing esports activities in the country.
Mr Agbor Clinton then pleaded the Sports Ministry to assist in the actualization of esports dream in Nigeria.  

Mr Agbor Clinton said that the Nigerian Esports Association is 90% ready to join the league of esports nations in the continent of Africa  and expressed his confidence that the Nigerian Esports  Association will meet the requirements of affiliation and has expressed total loyalt  to the continental president of esports for his leadership role in Africa esports confederation.  

Mr Agbor Clinton then added that arrangements have reached advance stages to make colleges and universities the main driving force in actualizing the dream of esports in country. Colleges and universities constitute the largest percentage of esports players and as such the Nigerian Esports Association is working with institutions to enhance the success of the gaming in the country.

Meanwhile the Nigeria esports Association is warming up in readiness of international friendly matches that will put some esports players in good shape ahead of the world championship in South Korea in December 2019.

GOVERNMENT TO PARTNER IN ESPORTS DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA

The Nigeria E sports Association has been commended for championing  grass root E sports   development in the country, with the aim of making the game a national sporting event in Nigeria.

The Director of Sports in the Federal Capital Abuja, Chief Mrs Dilichukwu Onyedima made the recommendation when she played host to some executive members of the Nigeria Esports Association who visited her in Abuja Nigeria.

The FCT Sports administrator while thanking the body of Nigeria Esports Association stressed   government’s readiness to work hand in hand with the Nigeria Esports Association to move the game forward. 

Madam Delichuku further advised the members of Nigeria Esports Association to make judicious use of the opportunity  at hand to take the game of Esports to all parts of the country. Delichuku said the government will do the needful for Nigeria Esports to join the league of  Esports nations.

Delichuku then called on the Esports officials to commence Esports activities to keep the youths out of crime, and promised to donate a big television screen for the Nigeria Esports Association.

The Director of Sports in Abuja, the seat of the Federal Capital Territory, advised the Nigeria Esports Association to take the game to the national sporting festival in order for Esports to be accepted and admitted as a medal event in the National Sports Festival  in Edo State 2020.  

Earlier, the President of the Nigeria Esports Association, Mr Agbor Clinton, said they were in the Director’s Office to congratulate team FCT  over the success in the just concluded National Youths Games, which team FCT  finished ninth position.

Mr Agbor Clinton also requested   for the government’s support in the development of  Esports in Nigeria and thanked the Director for the opportunity given so far in the development of sports in Nigeria. 

The Esports President appealed to the government to ensure that   the Nigeria Esports Association in given all the necessary supports in the country which he said the Nigeria youths can exploit in Esports if given the right opportunity.

The Nigeria Esports Association President said over nineteen states has so far commenced the Esports activities under the Nigeria Esports Association.

The Nigeria Esports Association President also informed the Director that zonal competition ahead of 11th Esports World Championship in Korea 2019 will soon start across the country. 

In another development, the President of the Nigeria Esports Association, Agbor Clinton has described the MOU between SPORTFANZONE.COM as a welcome development which he said will boast the development of the game in Nigeria.

At the international level the Nigeria Esports Association has since commenced discussion to be welcomed into the international fraternity.
