MSSA lines up even more international esports Test Matches.

MSSA President, Amanda Pakade, has confidence in Suth Africa's National Esports Teams.
Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has already held test matches against Azerbaijan (16 May 2020) and Namibia (25 April 2020). The test matches were a great success for MSSA's young Junior Protea DotA 2 Team. The experience in being able to participate against Azerbaijan's and Namibia's best has truly inspired the team to go further than before.

MSSA is now busy negotiating further test matches with Namibia, Azerbaijan, Nigeria and Peru.

The test matches will afford members of the National Squad to earn their Protea Colours even during this unpredictable time when sporting fixtures have been severely restricted due to the lockdown caused by COVID-19.

DOTA2: South Africa vs Azerbaijan

The brave South African team put up a solid defence against a very strong Azerbaijanian team in game 1, but still went down to the Azerbaijanian juggernaut.

In the second game, Azerbaijan still proved to be too strong.
Unfortunately South Africa lost the second game after a very hard fight. Well played Azerbaijan!

Ramil Aliyev has been co-opted onto International Esports Federation’s Board.

Ramil Aliyev of Azerbaijan has proven his worth over the years.
In order for International Esports Federation (IESF) to operate at full capacity, it is essential for IESF to fill the vacant positions on the Board so that all the various portfolios are filled.

Since all positions on the Board require the members to put in a great deal of time, effort, and vision, it is vital that the Board finds the right people for the tasks.IESF’s Board is confident that it has found the right man for the job.
Ramil Aliyev has a proven track record in esports, and his work ethic is beyond compare.
Born on November, 28, 1979, and having graduated from the faculty of Law. Ramil is currently president of Azerbaijan Cybersport Federation. Azerbaijan Cybersport Federation was recognized in 2013 as the National Federation governing esports in Azerbaijan by the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan Republic.

Under the leadership of Ramil Aliyev,
Azerbaijan Cybersport Federation (together with the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan Republic) hosted a very successful 6th Esports World Championships in Baku (2014).
IESF President, Colin Webster, stated, “There is no doubt that Ramil Aliyev with his experience and attention to detail will be a great asset to IESF’s Board. I, together with all the other Board members, look forward to working with Ramil.”
It should, however, be noted that the co-option is only in force for the period from co-option up until the Ordinary General Meeting in December 2019.

Meet MSSA's stars: Jessie 'JoobJoob' Joubert

Captain of the Protea eSports CounterStrike: GO team: Jessie 'JoobJoob' Joubert
There is no doubt that IeSF's World Championships prove to be one of  the greatest tests of character.

The  level of competition at the world's greatest esport championships for national teams ensures that every player is tested to the extreme.

Captains of teams are known to buckle, and only the strongest survive with  many falling along the way.

Jessie Joubert has now proven his calibre.

Although Jessie is the youngest team captain of a South African CounterStrike: GO team, and still a learner at Rondebosch Boys High, Jessie proved his mettle by continually marshalling and rallying his players in the face of some of the world's finest teams.

His 'never-say-die' attitude allowed the team to continually launch assault after assault on the much more experienced opposing teams.

South Africa faced off against Romania, Azerbaijan, Russia, and China.

In any other sport those opponents would be seen as lethal, and in esports, such opponents are absolutely deadly.

Yet Jessie rose to the challenge and proved  himself to be a worthy captain, a worthy Protea team member, and most  of all, a worthy South African.

Better than the Olympic kit....

Approved kit for MSSA's 2016 Protea eSports Team

As MSSA's Vice-President James Evans stated, "It looks a lot better than the Olympic and Paralympic kit."
Indeed it does!

MSSA, has finally approved the kit for the 2016 Protea eSports Team, and although  the embroidery has yet to be done, the kit does justice to  the selected team.

The South african eSports team is always well-turned-out at World Championships, and the team at IeSF's 8th World Championships will be no exception.

As a result of the South African team always being well-dressed, foreign TV is always willing to interview South Africa's eSports team.

Interviews of the SA team were done by Romanian, Russian, and Azerbaijanian TV giving the teams sponsors more bang for their 'buck'.

IeSF 2014 World Championships - Baku: StarCraft II athletes (female division)

Niina Kahela (Finland) and Yolandi Williams (MWEB Protea Team - South Africa)

With only four days to go to the IeSF's 6th World Championships - Baku, a quick look over the athletes in the female division of StarCraft II looks quite impressive.

The biggest shock is that South Korea has not got an athlete in this section.
