Taylor Rose selected to be the MWEB Protea eSports flag-bearer

There is little doubt that to be 'the' flag-bearer at an official international sporting event is indeed an honour.

MSSA's flag-bearer is an outstanding person who bears South Africa's beloved flag honouring it above all others.

Thus the selection by the International eSports Federation (IeSF) of Capetonian Taylor Rose to bear South Africa's flag at the Opening Ceremony of the 7th World Championships has very much honoured Taylor. As South Africa's flag-bearer, Taylor joins a veritable group of who's who in international eSports.

Dignatories that shall attend the opening ceremony include members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Olympic Committee of Asia (OCA), Blizzard Entertainment, and of the International eSports Federation.

Capetonian - the only African at IeSF's 7th World Championships to play StarCraft™: Legacy of the Void®

Nathan 'StatiC' Anderson - in game!

The IeSF's 7^th World Championships to be held in Seoul from the 2^nd to the 5^th of November 2015 will be the first major championship in which StarCraft™: Legacy of the Void® will be played.

Capetonian Nathan 'StatiC' Anderson not only has officially represented South Africa in two international events before 2015, Nathan shall be the only African to play in StarCraft™: Legacy of the Void® in the upcoming IeSF 7^th World Championships in Seoul from 2 to 5 December 2015.

Thus of all of Africa's hopes and aspirations rest squarely on Nathan's broad shoulders.

However, it is felt that Nathan has the experience to best represent Africa.

Added to the fact that the title Legacy of the Void® was only released in November 2015 by BLIZZARD, and that Nathan has a proven record of being able to adapt to new situations and perform under stress, MWEB Protea eSports Team member, Nathan Anderson should do well.

Nathan, like MSSA, feels that the new version has levelled the playing-field more than ever before.

Mind Sports South Africa is thus quite excited about Nathan's chances.

NightEnd enthuses about StarCraft™: Legacy of the Void® (LotV)

Silviu 'NightEnd' Lazar, one of the world's top StarCraft competitors has made his opinion quite plain about StarCraft™: Legacy of the Void® .

'NightEnd' has been heard to be quit enthusiastic about Legacy of the Void®.

Not only has 'NightEnd' openly stated that he far prefers LotV to HotS (Heart of the Swarm), but in his opinion, Blizzard has got it  right.

This is an opinion shared by many.


As soon as Legacy of the Void® was released, the national federation for eSports in South Africa, Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA), immediately announced that all its championships would be played to Legacy of the Void® with immediate effect.

The IeSF too announced that its 2015 World Championships in Seoul would be played to Legacy of the Void®.

As 'NightEnd' stated, "Legacy of the Void® is a proper real time strategy game (RTS)".

Putting SA on the eSports map

Without doubt no other organization in South Africa has done quite as much as Mind Sports South Africa  (MSSA) to put South Africa on the eSports gaming map.

"Really!", do I hear you exclaim?

"Yes, really!" I reply.

Of course none would have been possible without the sponsors as indicated. However, where the MSSA is mentioned in the sponsors column, it should be noted that these events were entirely self-funded by the MSSA.

The cost and effort of getting teams overseas is truly monumental and the dedication shown by the MSSA is truly admirable.

It is no wonder that South Africa is now ranked 13th in the world.

Thus despite anybody else's protestations, the only body that has really tried to get South Africans into serious on-line competition is - the MSSA
