Champions of all of Africa - Protea Female Counter Strike 2 Esports Team wins AEC24

The sun rose on 20 August 2024 on a day much like any other, but it was not, it is a day that will be remembered well into the future.

On this day, Mind Sports South Africa's (MSSA) Protea Female Counter Strike 2 Esports Team took to the field against Tunisia to battle it out to determine which team would represent Africa at IESF's World Esports Championships (WEC24) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 11 to 19 November 2024.

South Africa went into the match with the enviable record of not having lost a single game the entire championship. The South African team had won every game 2 - 0. The team worked like a well oiled machine due to the fact that all the team members all hail from the same club - ATK.

The first game, the Tunisians chose the Dust 2 map, and saw the South African team battle to find its feet as the Protea Team played a little recklessly. Nevertheless, the Protea Team still maintained control of the game throughout and won comfortably 13 - 9. Christin Brazier, was selected as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) with most impressive statistics.

In the second game, the Protea Team picked the Mirage map, and found their groove. No quarter was given as the Protea's literally forced the Tunisians into submission with a stunning 13 - 2 victory.

Team captain, Jessica Eleez Greeff, was selected as the Most Valuable Player (MVP).

With the stunning victory, MSSA's Protea Female Counter Strike 2 Esports Team, has qualified for IESF's WEC24 and are now the official champions of Africa.

Through to the finals of AEC24

A jubilant Shannon "aw3some" Corran gives the thumbs up after South Africa's victory over Egypt!

The clash between Mind Sports South Africa's (MSSA) Protea Counter Strike Esports Team and the Egyptian team was momentous and left not only the South African Team exhausted after the match, but all of the spectators as well.

The first game of the match was closely contested!

Neither side gave quarter and the match proved to be close, too close. Back and forth the teams tussled for supremacy.  First Egypt lead, then South Africa would wrench the lead from the Egyptians, and so it would go on for the whole game. 

Eventually, the score stood at 12 - 12. South Africa pulled it out of the hat by taking one more game forcing overtime. The last game had everyone on the edge of their seats. The score was 15 - 14 in South Africa's favour. It came down to four South Africans versus only one Egyptian. One-by-one the defiant Egyptian levelled the score, until only one South African remained. The final shot saw the Egyptian fall and South Africa take the game to claim a 16 - 14 victory!

The next game was far more clear-cut. The first game seems to have broken the spirit of the Egyptian team and MSSA's Protea Counter Strike Esports Team romped home to a comfortable 13 - 4 victory.

The victory has now placed South Africa in the final where the South Africans will once again meet up against the Tunisians. 

South Africa played against Tunisia in the first round of IESF's AEC24 Esports Championship. In the first round match, Tunisia beat South Africa 2 - 1, and South Africa has the distinction of being the only team in IESF's AEC24 to take a game off against Tunisia. Tunisia beat all its other opponents 2 - 0.

Thus the final seems as though it will be a real humdinger...

Tunisia has everything to prove, and South Africa is looking for revenge...

The finals will be played on 21 August 2024 at 14H00.

AEC - South Africa's Protea PUBGM Esports Team enters centre stage.

 

The PUBGM games shall be played from 19 to 21 August 2024.

Monday, 19 August 2024 sees Mind Sports South Africa's (MSSA) Protea PUBGM Esports Team take to the field to do digital battle against Djibouti, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritius, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Somalia, and Tunisia.

The Protea Team is lead by Richard "Reverb" Henry who through the year lead his team to victory in each and every MSSA event in which his club team played. Also having two athletes who proudly represented South Africa in 2023,  Sulaimaan "Sully" Musthan and Muhammad Shaahid "Momo" Muhammad, Richard is confident in his team's abilities.

International Esports Federation's (IESF) African Esports Championships (AEC24) marks the perfect opportunity for Richard and the rest of the team to demonstrate just how good and how healthy the PUBGM scene is in South Africa. Richard is determined to make an indelible mark on the African stage and ensure that the team qualifies for for IESF's World Esports Championships (WEC24) which is to be held in Riyadh later this year.

Forged in battle - a Counter Strike story...

Shannon "aw3some" Corran, master and commander of the MSSA Protea Counter Strike Esports Team.

Late on the night of Sunday, 18 August 2024, Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) officials, players and supporters sat waiting with baited breath as its open Protea Counter Strike Esports Team battled against Morocco.

This was the match that would seal the South African team's fate... Would they beat Morocco and get out of the group stage and enter the knock-out stage of IESF's AEC24, or would they  be packing their bags and waving goodbye to African Confederation of Digital Sports (ACDS) - the host -  and beautiful Casablanca?

The Moroccan home team put up a terrific fight, determined to represent themselves well in front of friends, family and supporters. 

Nevertheless, the South African onslaught proved to be too strong and Morocco's hopes and dreams of getting into the knock-out stage were shattered by the skillful and astute leadership of Shannon "aw3some" Corran.

Shannon "aw3some" Corran guided the MSSA Protea Counter Strike Esports Team to a masterful 13 - 2 and 13 - 4 victory over the beleaguered Moroccans.

With, now two victories under their belt (Mauritius and Morocco), the MSSA Protea Counter Strike Esports Team has moved int o the knock-out section to face mighty Egypt on 19 August 2024 at 14H00 (Moroccan time).


Every South African's hopes and dreams now rest of the skill of the brave MSSA Protea Counter Strike Esports Team to triumph in the face of battle and to do them and South Africa proud.

E-Sport : les jeux virtuels, une arme utilisable dans le renouveau sportif en Haïti

Avec le développement des jeux virtuels dans le viseur, la Fédération Haïtienne d'E-Sport vise la promotion de la croissance de multiples activités sur le plan éducatif, social et communautaire, dans l'optique de venir au secours de l'environnement haïtien qui ne cesse de décliner au point de vue sportif.

Avec le développement des jeux virtuels dans le viseur, la Fédération Haïtienne d'E-Sport vise la promotion de la croissance de multiples activités sur le plan éducatif, social et communautaire, dans l'optique de venir au secours de l'environnement haïtien qui ne cesse de décliner au point de vue sportif.

A but non lucratif, apolitique et non confessionnelle, la Fédération Haïtienne de l'E-Sport (FHE) a vu le jour le 11 avril 2011. Une initiative d'une quinzaine de professionnels haïtiens, principalement diplômés en sciences de l'éducation, en psychologie et en sciences humaines, tant en Haïti qu'à l'étranger, la FHE regorge de personnes de qualité. Étant une organisation travaillant dans le domaine des sports électroniques, des jeux vidéo, du développement communautaire, des droits des enfants et des femmes, le Centre est dûment reconnu par le ministère des Affaires sociales, identifié sous le numéro 37057 STC.

La FHE dispose d'une banque de ressources humaines et son noyau de base est composé d'environ dix cadres qui ont travaillé dans le passé conjointement et/ou individuellement sur un grand nombre d'activités dans le domaine du développement en Haïti, avec des compétences très variées. En moyenne, ils ont plus de dix ans d'expérience professionnelle en recherche appliquée et en exécution de projets. 

L'instance qui coiffe cette discipline sportive en Haïti n'est autre qu'une institution de services dans le développement des jeux virtuels, avec pour vision le développement intégré afin de promouvoir le développement de nombreuses activités sur le plan éducatif, social et communautaire pour aider à améliorer la qualité de vie en général dans l'environnement haïtien, dans le but d'atteindre le développement intégral des enfants et des femmes. 

En pleine évolution, des recrutements sont faits au niveau des écoles du Nord, de Nippes, du Sud, du Sud-Est et de l'Ouest. Dans le but d'intégrer le monde vidéoludique dans le mouvement olympique, le Comité International Olympique (CIO) avait communiqué, le mardi 23 juillet, la création des premiers Jeux Olympiques du jeu vidéo compétitif qui aura lieu en Arabie saoudite en 2025. Avec une possible ampleur à prendre à l'avenir, Haïti devrait bien miser une pièce sur cette discipline.

Objectifs de la FHE

La Fédération Haïtienne d'E-Sport vise de manière générale la contribution au développement économique, social et culturel des communautés ciblées par la formation participative et le développement communautaire. Des regards fixés vers les objectifs spécifiques, il y a lieu de citer l'encouragement et le soutien des citoyens, jeunes et organisations de femmes à participer à la décentralisation et à la gestion moderne des jeux électroniques ; l'encouragement et le soutien d'initiatives locales et d'organisations communautaires et citoyennes ; la supervision et le soutien du développement des systèmes numériques et des organisations socioprofessionnelles ; la promotion de la responsabilité et de la participation citoyenne ; le travail pour l'amélioration de l'éducation formelle, informelle et non formelle.

Pour la 10e participation d'Haïti, voici quelques athlètes qui représenteront Haïti dans différentes disciplines au Mondial 2024 : Kesly Jacques (Efoot), Jean Gardy (Tekken 8), Joseph Jason Walter (PUBG), Emmanise Saintil (Dota2), Domond Berline Marie Sandy (CS: GO). Des clubs situés dans différentes écoles au Cap-Haïtien, à Port-au-Prince et des ligues départementales pour le recrutement des athlètes et l'organisation des détections par le moyen de compétition, permettent le recueillement de joueurs pour les compétitions internationales.

Freed Wilson, président de la Fédération haïtienne d'E-Sport, a fait savoir au micro du quotidien Le Nouvelliste qu'Haïti fait partie de 234 pays affiliés au sport électronique et aux jeux vidéo. L'originaire du Cap-Haïtien reconnaît qu'Haïti n'est pas très développée dans le domaine des jeux vidéo. Toutefois, il dit constater que c'est regrettable qu'il y ait un gaspillage de jeunes talents qui jouent sans encadrement, principalement en raison du manque de soutien de la part de nos dirigeants haïtiens.

Somme toute, des mesures doivent être prises pour le choix du sport en bonne et due forme en Haïti. Avec de multiples bienfaits tant au niveau psychologique qu'au niveau économique, l'E-Sport nécessite une plus grande reconnaissance. Comme un vecteur de développement, une très mauvaise gestion du sport est faite ces dernières années en Haïti. Pour dresser une voie standard, il faut bien repartir sur de bons rails.

AEC - South Africa enters the finals!

Jessica Eleez Greeff again leads her team to victory.

Oh rapturous day , Mind Sports South Africa's (MSSA) Female Protea Counter Strike Esports Team once again demonstrated their net worth.

Facing the powerful Egyptian Team, who were fresh from their resounding victory over Tunisia, the South African Female Protea Team knew that they had their work cut out for themselves.

Nevertheless, once again the cool, calm leadership exhibited by Jessica Eleez Greeff helped the team to successfully square up to Egypt.  The South African  team gave no quarter to the Egyptians, and ripped the Egyptians apart. In the first game, the Egyptians crumbled to a 13 - 5 loss on the 'Dust' map. 

Even though the Egyptians came back strongly in the second game on the "Inferno' map, the South African team held firm to force a credible 13 - 7 victory over the strong Egyptian Team.

Thus the MSSA Female Protea Counter Strike Esports Team are through to the final, which will be played on Tuesday, 20 August 2024.


The entire MSSA is rallied behind the MSSA Female Protea Counter Strike Esports Team in the full knowledge that the team is more than capable of bringing home the gold and to become the champions of Africa, and win a berth to IESF's World Esports Championships (WEC24) in Riyadh later this year.
