Taylor Rose to shout-cast SA's official League of Legends IeSF test match against Switzerland.

Taylor Rose when selected to represent South Africa at IeSF's 7th World Championships - Seoul.

On 6 September 2017 MSSA announced that the official IeSF test match against Switzerland shall be streamed on MSSA's channel on TULUNTULU.

The test match forms part of the Protea League of Legends Esports Team's preparations for IeSF's 9th World Championships - Busan.

The South African Protea League of Legends Esports Team shall play from MWEB's MCAVE at the following times:

• League of Legends (Game 1) - 13H00 to 14H00
• League of Legends (Game 2) - 14H00 to 15H00

Taylor Rose has established himself as a  well respected League of Legends player.

While at the top of his game, Taylor won numerous Provincial Championships and earned himself provincial and national federation colours. Taylor then went on to represent South Africa in both the 2015 and 2016 Protea Esports League of Legends Teams in both Seoul and in Jakarta.

At IeSF's 7th World Championships - Seoul, Taylor had the honour to be South Africa's flag bearer. 

With the wealth of knowledge that Taylor Rose has in both the local and international scene, Taylor's shout-casting should be most enjoyable.

Request for nominations for MSSA's 2017 Management Board Awards

Back in 2009, Mind Sport South Africa (MSSA) started its Management Board Awards.

The Awards were designed to recognise the contribution made by those who gave selflessly, and/or made an impact, to the promotion of the various types of gaming under the jurisdiction of MSSA.

The list is a veritable 'who's-who' in South African gaming.

Even though some of the 'names' have moved on to further their prospects in business, Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) shall always fondly remember the winners and the incredible contribution that they made towards gaming.

Some, like Simphiwe Maphumulo and Morizane Boyes , became even more involved.

Both Simphiwe and Morizane moved from being great gamers to take up active roles in the administration of MSSA as President of the MSSA.

However, the time has once again arrived for members to make their nominations for MSSA's Management Board Awards.

The categories are:

• Board Gamer of the Year 
• Computer Gamer of the Year 
• Wargamer of the Year 
• Volunteer of the Year 
• Writer of the Year 
• Sponsor of the Year

If you wish to make a nomination, please submit such nomination in writing together with full motivation for such to mindsportssa@iafrica.com before 15 October 2017.

Such nomination must contain a detailed motivation for the Management Board to consider.

The period under review for nominations is 1 October 2016 to 30 September 2017.

The award is presented at MSSA's Annual General Meeting.

A brave new world!

Members of MSSA's Management Board sat up to the wee hours of the mornin to check all the nominations that were submitted for the 2016 elections to be held at the Annual General Meeting on 4 December 2016.

Even though the 2016 elections have received a  record amount of  nominations for the Management Board, there are still four positions on such Board which are unopposed, being the position for the Card gaming representative, eSports Representative, General Secretary, and the Legal Advisor.

Obviously, everyone  is quite content with the performance of the incumbent officers.

The most encouraging aspect to the 2016 elections is that there are no fewer than seven women who are standing for positions.

The Management Board has 13 positions in total, so if all the women win their seats, MSSA could indeed have a different 'face', and would be the first mind sports body world-wide that would have true gender equity.

Maryke Kennard continues to smash preconceived ideas

Maryke Kennard made history in 2015 when she was the first ever women to represent a country in a team game,  and to be the captain of such team, at IeSF’s 7th World Championships – Seoul.

If that was enough, Maryke then went on to give the Athlete’s Oath at the start of IeSF’s 7th World Championships,  and when the South African team just missed getting into the group stages, Maryke assisted Reid ‘RAPiD’ Melton shoutcast the event to millions of watchers.

Maryke is thus the first South African to ever have shoutcasted at a world championships.

A weaker person would have settled with these achievements, but, for Maryke, they are just the start.

Maryke is too a great sense of character. Although Maryke did a wonderful job of leading the Protea  League of Legends, Maryke stood down as captain to allow fellow team mate, Matthew Smith, take up the  reigns  of  captain.

As a  player, Maryke has been reselected to  represent South Africa  in the eSports Protea Team for IeSF’s 8th World Championships – Jakarta.

It should  be noted that Maryke shall be the only female participant at such world championships.

Such is the stuff that Maryke is made, she is indomitable.

IeSF discloses the list of Casters and Referees

For the 7^th e-Sports World Championship SEOUL 2015, hosted by International e-Sports Federation (IeSF) and sponsored by LONGZHU TV, which is the only one nationality-based international e-Sports competition event in the world, IeSF just disclosed the broadcasting information including list of the casters for the broadcasting, and also announced the judges.

The judges for the e-Sports World Championship, in line with the standards of international sports society, consist of Technical Delegate, Jury and International Referees for each title. The Technical Delegate supervises the operation of all matches, and is the highest authority at the tournament venue, and Mr. Sung Hwan (Hwani) Kim, the former head coach of professional team, EGTL, will take such role. The Jury approves the result of all matches, and takes care of the appeals and arbitrations, and Mr. Matthew Byun, the former general manager of competition department at IeSF will take the role. For the International Referees who will take care of each title’s matches, Mr Sang Woo Park, the former professional e-Sports player, and Mr. Sang Taek Oh, the former Coach of a professional team will support such roles.

Selected matches of preliminary and main rounds, all 3^rd place matches and Finals will be broadcasted on the IeSF channel at Twitch TV (http://www.twitch.tv/iesf_tv) in English, and Chinese casting will be available at Longzhu TV (http://v.longzhu.com). Regarding the casters, ARTOSIS will be up for StarCraft® II: Legacy of the Void™, ARTOSIS and RaPiD for Hearthstone®: Heroes of Warcraft™, and RaPiD and LastShadow will be casting League of Legends.

The general schedule of the broadcasting is as described in the broadcasting schedule table. Also, IeSF will conduct the group drawing at 7 PM (Korea Standard Time, GMT +9), and will disclose the match table right after the drawing. There will be the press release on each day including the result of the day and the plan for the following day.
