After defeating Madagascar, SA's Female Proteas to take on Mauritius and Ghana.


Neisha (Rose) Khan lead the female Protea Esports Team for MLBB to a stunning victory in the test match against Mauritius.

In preparation for IESF's WEC25 the South African Female Protea Team for the Mobile Legends Bang Bang Esports title will also take on Mauritius and Ghana.

Having played against Madagascar on Thursday, 1 May 2025 at 20H30, the South African Female Protea Team trounced Mauritius 2 - 0. As usual the team worked as a tight unit commanded by the very able Neisha (Rose) Khan. Neisha marshalled her team with the skill and confidence of an ancient general as the Protea team prepared for battle. The team responded in kind and gave the battle their all.

It is not, therefore surprising that Neisha earned the title of MVP in the game and comrade in arms, Rowell (Ketsuka) Pillay, earned the title of MVP in the second game of the test match.

National Sports Authority recognises GESF as sole E-Sports governing body in Ghana

Under GeSF President, Igor Boumekpo, GeSF now has official; accreditation.

The National Sports Authority has officially recognized the eSports Federation, Ghana as a governing body for E-Sports in Ghana.

Following thorough evaluation and compliance with registration criteria, the Federation has been granted authority over electronic gaming sports within the country by the NSA.

In a meeting held in February between the federation's President, Igor Boumekpo, and NSA officials, discussions centered on the federation's role in autonomously regulating and overseeing all esports-related activities in Ghana. The recent approval solidifies this arrangement.

This decision by the NSA is poised to significantly impact the esports community in Ghana and, by extension, the broader gaming community across Africa.

Over the years, eSports Federation, Ghana has spearheaded various gaming competitions and events in Ghana and the African continent. Notable among these are the Warm Up ESports Festival in collaboration with 3Sports and the annual Orange eSports events since 2018.

This year, the federation organized the NFL Fan Zone event in  Accra, coinciding with the NFL Africa Touchdown, which saw the participation of dignitaries such as the Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

2018 Calendar of events.


With Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) already having successfully completed 6 events since January, MSSA is in full swing to deliver as many events as possible to enable registered players to qualify for Regional, Provincial, and National Team Selection.

All gamers are reminded that the 2018 On-line Provincial Championships is the second last provincial event in which gamers may qualify for MSSA's National Team Trials for esports that shall be held on 2 & 3 June 2018.

Khahliso holds his own

Khahliso Malape - deep in concentration.
On 17 March 2018, at the Old Edwardian Society, Khahliso Malape proudly donned his Protea kit to take on the might of Ghana in the FIFA '18 esports title.

South Africa has not had a  good record against  Ghana in the previous test match which was played on 6 February 2016 which Ghana won 5-1.

However, Khahliso was determined to make amends.

After having made his  debut against Namibia in 2017, Khahliso has put in a great deal of training and effort.

It showed!

Khahliso immediately went on the attack, and with lightning speed, scored the first goal.  Nevertheless, Frank Kpakpo (Ghana) retaliated, and in swift succession scored two goals against Khahliso.

At one two goals to one, Khahliso dug deep and rebounded to score an equalizer in the dying moments of the game to leave the game as a draw.

The result shows Khahliso to be a much improved athlete and is developing as a truly international competitor.

SA's team to take on Ghana.

The last time that Ghana played against South Africa was on 6 February 2016. In such online test match, South Africa experienced a far stronger Ghana than anticipated, and South Africa was beaten rater badly.

Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) officials are hopeful that there will be a far  better result on 17 March 2018 when once again South Africa will take on Ghana in an online test match.

Since 2016, MSSA has given even  greater attention to its console players and has encouraged the gamers to develop wherever possible.

Thus, MSSA is particularly proud of the BOO! Protea Esports Team  that will take on Ghana on 17 March 2018.

The BOO! Protea Esports Team consists of:
  • Alasdair Donaldson (VexxedPhoenix), and
  • Khahliso Malape (Fakkel School of Skills), and
  • Adele Janse van Rensburg (Team Manager)
Alasdair Donaldson:

Alasdair Donaldson is a true competitor. Over the years, Alasdair has added numerous provincial titles under his belt as well as that of South African National Champion for the Tekken 7 esports title. Yet, even though Alasdair is a great competitor, at MSSA's Annual  General Meeting in December  20017, Alasdair was awarded MSSA's Sportsmanship Award. Alasdair's performance at IESF's 9th World Championships was a solid result in which  he established  himself as a major contender at international level.

Khahliso Malape:

 Khahliso Malape too has a string of Provincial titles behind his name. Khahliso too is the current South African National Champion for the FIFA '18 esports title.

Khahliso, despite his youth, is busy establishing a name for himself on the international circuit havin already represented South Africa in an online test match against Namibia in 2017.

The South African Team shall play from the 'King's Tavern', at the Old Edwardian Society. The players  shall be awarded their Protea Colours immediately prior to the CAeS accredited test match.

FIFA '18 - Learners who have qualified for National Team Trials.

Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) first introduced the esports title of FIFA in 2005, and such title has been included in every year since then. Participation in MSSA's 8th Online Inter-School Championships held on 10 February 2018 showed solid growth in this title and delivered good results.

Five players in MSSA's 8th Online Inter-School Championships all earned their berths in MSSA's 2018 National Team Trials.

FIFA was played at IESF's 2009, 2010, and 2011 World Championships (Taebaek, Daegu, and Andong), and MSSA sent players in all three years to represent South Africa. MSSAhas too sent nationnal teams to Windhoek, Namibia, as well as having competed online against Zimbabwe, Ghana, and Namibia.

The criteria to qualify for such trials all Registered Players that win a Regional Championship shall earn an invitation to National Team Trials.

Also, all Registered Players that score within the top 20% or top three places, whichever is greater, in a specific Period at a Provincial or National Championship shall earn an invitation to National Team Trials.

It should be remembered that members of the current Protea Squad automatically earn a berth at the National Team Trials (NTT) should they have met their obligations in terms of participation at MSSA events.
