New Championship Esports Qualifying Series to Launch In The United States

The national sanctioning organization for esports is revealing its development plans for a first-of-its-kind national championship series at an upcoming esports industry conference where municipalities and their venue assets will have access to a multi-year national framework benefiting host cities by attracting hundreds of esports athletes and thousands of fans from across the nation.

United States Esports Federation [USEF] is the National Governing Body [NGB] charged with fosteringcompetitive gamers who identify as digital athletes. Part of the organization’s role is to sanction tournaments to ensure international competition standards at met. The formalization of a U.S. National Esports Team [USNEST] now requires a nationwide qualifying process.

To accomplish a fair and standardized qualification process for national team selection, a championship series of events will be held to discover the best of the country’s digital culture. Future gold medals and celebrity- style endorsement deals are expected.

USEFs recently elected President, David Geddes, will present the series framework at the Esports Travel Summit to explain the process and also convene a special meeting for interested host destinations, their venues, and media. Register here for the June 21-23 event at Daytona Beach, Florida.

Mr. Geddes is optimistic about their new strategy saying, “We are very excited by the post-covid wave of interest to host in-person competitions, the esports industry is unifying just like other NGBs, such as USA Soccer or USA Climbing.” He went on to add, “I am so delighted when I think about how our nation's esports competitors will face off to qualify for the national team – celebrity esports athletes will be made during our championship series of events.”

USNEST is already planning to send an elite team to qualify at the IESF Panam Cup in Buenos Aires, Argentina and then on to the IESF World Championships in Bali, Indonesia 2022. Lance Mudd, who oversees the team's development exclaimed, "I have never been more excited to head to the IESF World Championships with our team, but before that, we're stopping off in beautiful, Buenos Aires!"

The official organisation in USA which runs the Esports world is NACE (National Association of College Esports), running Esports for colleges and controlling games and official events.

Games that are played at college level include (but are not limited to) Overwatch, Paladins, Rocket League, Smite, Counter Strike, PUBG, Hearthstone, StarCraft II, Madden, Mortal Kombat, Fortnite, League Of Legends, and FIFA.

Initio Gaming signs Fury Born Gaming in a hope to expand the clan across international waters.

Initio Gaming is a clan that’s dedicated to their teams, players and communities. “Initio Gaming seeks to be a professional eSports organization with a strong sense of community involvement.” This statement perfectly sums up how the clan greeted all members of Fury Born Gaming into their clan.

Initio Gaming is an American based clan which is spreading its reach across Europe. In September of this year Initio Gaming accepted Fury Born Gaming into their fold and since then it’s been go go go!

All teams, from the American teams to the European teams, have been working across the clock in an effort to better themselves and make their clan proud but none of this is possible without the clan working together. A huge amount of work has been put in by the managers and owners of Initio Gaming but a special mention must be made to thank the dedicated support of both the Fury Born Gaming sponsors and the Initio Gaming sponsors; GameServers, AFX, GameKit and Boss Boxes.

After a brief interview with the Head Manager of Initio Gaming, Nicholas "Royal" Smith, we got a very good view of what Initio Gaming is all about.

What is your involvement in Initio Gaming?

“My involvement being head manager for Initio Gaming is that I organise maintain and create teams for the organization. I have been in various leadership roles for the past 10 years and have been managing eSports team for close to a year now. I have managed teams for different games and have provided successful results for each team I was a part of.”

How did you come to bringing Fury Born Gaming into your organisation, Initio Gaming?

“I have worked with Bean [Head Manager for Fury Born Gaming] for months now as we were part of another organization together. We have similar styles of leadership so we became friends rather quickly. Working with him again feels good and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

What are your goals for Initio Gaming?

“My goals for Initio Gaming is to bring teams and build a winning platform for players to be a part of while maintaining a professional work environment. This is done via player interaction and providing proper management for players to ensure that their time is spent practicing and not on the more lucrative side of the industry. I strive to ensure that people whether they are staff or players are taken care of in the most effective way possible.”

What, broadly, are your plans for the future?

“The plans for the future are grand, with more and more attention being drawn to eSports we will do our best to stay and maintain a competitive edge. We are at a time where support for what we do continues to grow and we want to make sure we are at the forefront of the scene with the right people in charge. We have amazing players and great staff so accomplishing this goal will be as hard as any other task but with the trust between talent and management I feel strongly we can achieve whatever goal is in front of us.”

Are you excited to expand Initio Gaming into Europe?

“Expanding into Europe was a no brainer because the people there love their eSports. With large established organizations already have bases of operation there we cannot be caught by the wayside and let others take the glory. Every day we look to bring in more top notch EU players because we want to become a global presence on the stage. There are great players everywhere do not get me wrong but the passion I have seen after all my years of working in this industry I can say for sure that EU is a powerhouse with many T1 and T2 teams gathering support the community we intend to match the passion and commitment that we have achieved here in the US.”

22nd Annual KwaZulu Natal Championships - 9 & 10 July 2016

Maritzburg College in Pietermaritzburg shall be hosting the 22nd Annual KwaZulu Natal Championships on 9 & 10 July 2016.

KwaZulu Natal Championships has always been popular among gamers  and has helped many  a gamer  achieve both provincial and national colours.

Since 2000, over 15 gamers from KwaZulu Natal have been called up for duty in various Protea teams. Such players/gamers have travelled to the USA, South Korea, China, Namibia, Botswana, Greece, the United Kingdom, and Finland in order to officially represent South Africa  in international competitions.

MSSA's KwaZulu Natal Championships counts towards eligibility to the 2017 National Team Trials (NTT) and, as such, there is much interest by a number of clubs and teams in such event.

All readers are reminded that the closing dates for entries is 1 July 2016.

At such championships the KwaZulu Natal Provincial Team shall be selected to represent the KwaZulu Natal in the Inter-provincial Test Matches.

Now that the hiatus between the third and fourth rounds of the MWEB Inter-school eSports League is over, the resumption of hostilities may now resume on Friday, 24 July 2015.

The DotA 2 division is hotly contested between three schools, being Fish Hoek High School (Cape Town), Maritzburg College (Pietermaritzburg), and Parklands College (Table View).

And there is much to contest!

Not only may the winning school earn National Schools Federation Colours from the MSSA, but the two top schools will be paired off against the two top schools from the United States of America.

The clash against the USA will be the first of many, which will be part of the MSSA's programme to further develop South African gamers to rightfully take their place among the top eSports nations.

However, before the two top school get there, the fight for first and second place has to be resolved.

All three schools are already on six points, all three schools have not yet lost a game, but that is all about to change…

The fourth round will see Fish Hoek square off against Maritzburg College, while Parklands College will have to field off a strong attack from Rondebosch Boys.
