Namibia crumbles!

Both Suhail Khan (left) and Matthew Raubach (right) are ranked in the top 400 on EU servers.

After defeating Madagascar on 24 June 2025, Mind Sports South Africa's Protea Team for the DotA 2 esports title faced off against Namibia on 25 June 2025 at 20H00. The match is part of IESF's African Regional Championships to qualify teams for the annual World Esports Championships (WEC25). The match was streamed on https://www.twitch.tv/iesf_dota2 for all to see.

In the first game South Africa started strong taking its first kill but seconds into the game. No mercy was given as MSSA's Protea Team for the DotA 2 esports title rammed its advantage home at every opportunity.

Not surprisingly Namibia called Good-Game - GG - and forfeited in under 20 minutes!

The final kill score in the first game was 37 - 6.

The second game was no different as the South African Protea Team for the DotA 2 esports title again asserted its dominance.

The final kill score in the second game was an astonishing 72 - 23.

With South Africa having won both games, South Africa emerged victorious.

The entire team shone as a unit and worked effortlessly as one. The team is:

Top ten ranked clubs at MSSA's 17th Mpumalanga Championships

Gawie Fick (Fakkel School of Skills) who was a major contributor of points.
Every single participant at a MSSA provincial  and  National Championships earns points for their club.

The points in turn indicate the strength of the club in terms of both participation and standard of play.

It is indeed exciting to see how the school clubs dominate. It is the schools which are the natural breeding ground for mind sports. It is at the schools affiliated to MSSA where the culture of compliance needed in board games, esports, and wargames can be cultivated.

The top ten ranked clubs at MSSA's 17th Mpumalanga Championships are:

Team ' Nightwalkers' keep their spot at the top of the rankings.

'Nightwalkers' (Generation X) still at the top.

MSSA's 36th Gauteng Provincial Championships held at Northcliff High School on 24 February 2018 witnessed St. Stithians win the championship and creep ever closer to the top ranked team in the country - 'Nightwalkers'.


Finishing in second place at MSSA's 36th Gauteng Provincial Championships was enough for 'Nightwalkers' to keep their pole position.

However, St. Stithians is right on 'Nightwalkers' heels and in second place.

Thus in order to remain at the top of the rankings, it is evident that Registered Players need to participate in as many MSSA events as possible.

It looks like it is going tobe an interesting year as teams fight for supremacy, and a chance to represent the country in the Protea Esports Team.
