Dale Spolander has set himself up as the man to beat.

Dale Spolander (Northcliff High School), on the left, up against Daniel Lombard (Monument Park High School) at the recent SA Schools' National Championships.
With the results in for the first week of play, the NWU MSSA Online School League looks like it is going to be a most interesting affair.

With most of the top ranked players having won their first round matches, it seems as though the more experienced players will be able to hold their own.

However, it should be noted that with the increased size of the field there are also a number of unranked players that  have won their first round matches, such as Luan Raubenheimer and Immanuel Swart from Hoërskool Klerksdorp both of whom have jumped up the rankings.

It should too be noted that there are four more weeks before the league reaches its end. Since the league uses a modified Swiss-System, anything may still happen.

Who knows, there may be an athlete that had a bad start, and will surprise us all.

The current rankings for the Clash Royale esports title are as follows after the first round are as follows:

Monument Park launches its assault.

The SA Schools' National Champions, Monument Park High School, have taken an early lead.
With the start of the NWU MSSA Online School League in the week ending 19 July 2019, it was pleasing to see a number of new schoos pitted against the veterans. The veterans have attended many of MSSA's provincial and national championships and have thus developed in their own right as true competitors.

So it is with Monument Park High School having earned gold in the 2019 SA Online Schools' Championships, the 2019 Western Cape Provincial Championships, and the 2019 SA Schools' National Championships.

It will be interesting to see if
Monument Park High School can maintain its winning ways.

Edenvale High begins its campaign on a high note.

Edenvale High School's CS: GO team 'Oasis' in a jubillant mood.
The NWU MSSA Online School League has begun and the schools are fighting hard for the spoils.

Esports, on an official level, not only adheres to the laws of the land, but also allows schools to compete at very little cost against schools in an official sport, which, otherwise, would take great sums of money. Official esports events also reinforce each school's culture and standards of discipline.

It was solely through Mind Sports South Africa's efforts that esports bcame an official sport in 2005 and MSSA was able to award Protea Colours to its team that it sent to the 2005 World Cyber Games.

The 2019 edition of the NWU MSSA Online School League has greater prizes than ever before which center on education and the school.

It will be interesting to see if Edenvale High School can maintain its winning ways.
