Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) held its annual level 1 umpires' course at Curro Durbanville on 2 March 2019. Curro Durbanville provided exceptional facilities and the event went off without a hitch.

While any Registered Player is able to participate in the course, it is especially pleasing to see athletes who have earned their colours also doing the course. It is such athletes who have a greater sense of community and are more willing to pay-forward in order to ensure the long-term sustainability of all the disciplines (Board gaming, Card gaming, Esports, and Wargames).

It is also pleasing to see that all four top athletes 'aced' the course. Thus all four shall be inducted in as umpires at MSSA's Western Cape Championships to be held at Curro Durbanville on 23 & 24 March 2019.
