International
Esports Federation (IESF) hereby announces League of Legends (LoL) as the second official
game title to be included in the 10th Esports World Championship in
Kaohsiung City, Chinese Taipei.
Thus Riot Games’ League
of Legends (LoL) is now officially included in the list of game
titles to be played at IESF’s Esports World Championship 2018.
2018
marks the fifth year since 2013 that LoL has been included in IESF's
Esports World Championship as an official game title for the
event.
Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has sent an official Protea Esports Team to play in League of Legends in IESF's World Championships in 2013 (Bucharest), 2015 (Seoul), 2016 (Jakarta), and in 2017 (Busan).
League of Legends (LoL) esports in IESF's Esports World Championship
will continue to be promoted as an amateur competition, as all
participating players shall be amateurs who have not participated in
any professional or semi-pro league globally during 2018.
IESF’s
Esports World Championship is an International Esports competition
based on nationality. 46 Member nations of IESF which participate the
World Championship shall hold National Qualifiers to qualify players
who represent their countries. IESF’s Esports World Championships
has been hosted in every year, started since 2009.
IESF
is currently in the process of selecting additional games and shall
make the final announcement for all official and demonstration game
titles after completing all negotiations with the Game Developers.
