Chanel de Wet does South Africa proud.

Chanel de Wet (JCS Academy - Sasolburg).
Chanel de Wet (JCS Academy) made history in 2017 to become the first female from the Free State to earn  Provincial and National Federation Colours for the game of Checkers.

It does not stop there either.

World Checkers Draughts Federation (WCDF) has just announced the completion of its 3rd Annual World Cup.

The World Cup uses results from all member nations to determine the results for such Word Cup.

In such World Cup, Chanel is placed in 6th place.

Fellow South African, and club member,  Cassandra van Tonder also made it into the top ten and finished in 8th place.

2017 was indeed a good showing, and Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) hopes to see far greater female participation in the game of checkers in 2018.
