Female learners are encouraged to enter NWU MSSA Online School League.

Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) is proud of its achievements of being the only National Federation to have achieved gender equity on its Board, as well as to be the only National Federation to have delivered a female component in each and every national Protea Team that has attended every International Esports Federation (IESF) World Championships since 2012.

However, it should be noted that MSSA, though, first awarded Protea Colours in 2010 to female athletes (Kgothatso Moerane, and Natalie Witoslawski) who were both Tuks students at the time.

It is by participating in the NWU MSSA Online School League that female esports athletes can qualify for National Team Trials, and at the same time have a little fun as well as possible earn a little silverware, in the form of medals, earn High School Provincial Colours, and possibly even earn some prize money, or even win the bursary on offer.

As already reported, the Online League (NWU MSSA Online School League) offers prizes other than just the medals and provincial colours to the overall winners. The prizes include:

  • A R30,000.00 Bursary for the winner of the StreetFighter V esports title, and
  • R5,000.00 Prize money for the School for the winner of the Paladins esports title, and
  • R5,000.00 Prize money for the School for the winner of the DotA 2 esports title, and
  • R5,000.00 Prize money for the School for the winner of the efootball PES 2020 esports title.
The following Medals may be awarded at MSSA's 2020 Annual Inter-School League:
  • HIGH SCHOOL (FEMALE): Medals shall be awarded to the first three high school scholars.
