The safety of MSSA's members is MSSA's first priority. |
With
South Africa (MSSA) in the grip of the COVID-19
pandemic, Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has decided to err on the
side of caution. The government seems to believe that the worst is still yet to come, and with many people seemingly believing that the government has failed in this time of crises, MSSA is of the opinion that to hold LAN championships at the moment would put its athletes, officials, and administrators under undue risk.
There is no doubt that the people of South Africa are fighting a war. It is questionable among many whether South Africa is using the correct tactics and strategies. Thus, in this time of uncertainty, MSSA puts the well-being of all its members first.

Up to now MSSA has already held twelve (12) events. Such events demonstrate the resilience and versatility of esports in these dark days.
The online championships held in lieu of the LAN championships do not replace such championships, the online championships are merely held as an auxiliary championships to allow Registered Players continue with the process of qualifying for provincial colours and national team selection.
