MSSA on YOU FM

Colin Webster, President of MSSA, has dedicated his life since 1980 to the furtherance of mind sports as a sport equal to the traditional sports.

Colin Webster, President of Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA), will be discussing mind sports on YOU FM with Karabo Mokgalagadi.

Karabo Mokgalagadi is the passionate sports presenter for YOU FM’s Sports Hour. With over a decade of experience in the radio industry, Karabo has established herself as a respected figure in sports journalism. Her interest in sports began at an early age, and she has since made it her mission to share her love for sports with her listeners.

The discussion will revolve around development and international participation in mind sports.

The conversation shall be held on 17H45 on Tuesday, 2 May 2023.

Amanda Pakade speaks on MSSA's commitment to promoting esports in schools.


Amanda Pakade, MSSA's Past President (2018 to 2021), shall be talking to YOUFM's Karabo Mokgaladi about MSSA's commitment to promoting esports in schools.

During Amanda Pakade's presidency. MSSA experienced a huge upsurge in membership among schools.

Remaining on the Board as Hon. Vice-President, Amanda Pakade intends to carry on promoting growth in this important sector.

Huisgenoot promotes official esports school league.

Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA), the world's oldest national federation for esports, has always received good coverage from HUISGENOOT, YOU, BEELD, RAPPORT, and FINWEEK apropos its activities. Having been founded in 1985, MSSA received membership from South Africa's National Olympic Committee in 1994.

With the partnership being formed between MSSA and  PARTNERMEDIA, there is  now a much closer relationship.

Although there are only prizes for the following:

  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2020 (PES) – R5,000.00
  • Paladins – R5000.00
  • DotA 2 – R5000.00
  • Street Fighter V– a bursary to the value of R30,000.00
there are six other titles as well.


Athletes can earn Provincial Colours in all the titles.


The championship may be used by gamers to qualify for eligibility to be selected for the National Squads, from which the National Teams shall be drawn, should MSSA need to choose a team for any of the titles played in such championships.


MSSA's Online School League is the only official online league for schools. It is an event that has proved itself to be a most enjoyable event.
