The requirements for the award of colours by Africa Mind Sports South Africa are clearly defined in MSSA's constitution.However, it should be remembered that each national federation creates its own criteria. Such criteria is either placed in the constitution and/or regulations of such body. Thus the way that each federation awards colours may differ slightly from each other, but the principle remains the same, to encourage, promote, and reward excellence.
School Provincial Colours:
School Provincial Colours have been awarded since 1998 with the first such recipients for Wargames being Kyle Banger (Linpark High School), Marc Marais (Crawford), Dale Rimmington (Krugersdorp High School), and Andre Tonkin (Krugersdorp High School).
The first recipients for Board Games were Sifiso Bomelo (Chief Ampie High School) and Thabo Mokoena (Chief Ampie High School).
The first esports athletes to receive the award all came from Framsby High School are were Duane Duffy, Kevin Ruth, Pieter Snyman, Stephan van Tonder, and Stephan Wals.
All those who have received such award have a special place in MSSA's records for such individuals have helped to create the strong foundations on which MSSA is built.
School Provincial Colours are awarded o:n the following criteria
Readers should too note that such colours are awarded to the player based on where such player is ordinarily resident.
- Persons who have been selected by MSSA to represent the Province in which he/she is ordinarily resident in a team, or
- Persons who have won all games played at a Provincial Championship, or
- Persons who have played in Nationals and one Provincial School Championships (in the same period) and ended in the top 50% of scholars competing, and/or
- Persons who have played in at least two official Provincial School Championships (in the same period) and ended in the top 50% of scholars competing.
