2018 National Team Trials for Esports

Paul Roos Gimnasium in action at MSSA's 2018 National Team Trials - Vereeniging.
The 2nd and 3rd of June 2018 saw esports athletes descend upon Vereeniging in droves. With athletes coming from Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, and Western Cape, Vereeniging Gimnasium hosted the biggest esports event ever to be held in the city of Vereeniging.

More than 20 clubs were represented, and there is every expectation that the 2018/2019 National Team will be the strongest National team ever selected.

Vereeniging Gimnasium did it well, the school provide a wonderful venue and met all the needs as laid down by SSA for the selection process.

The National Team Trials (NTT) saw an increase in participation with many of the teams having received generous sponsorships from companies inn order to attend such trials. Clubs like Helpmekaar, Valhalla, Paul Roos Gimnasium, Empangeni High School, Goon Squad, Southern5,  and Good Gaming (to mention some) all received such sponsorships.

After the athletes parted, the Selectors remained in discussion, until  they too left the venue to wend their way home.

The deliberations will  continue until the various squads are selected.

Once the squads  are selected, the teams shall be drawn from the squads to play in the various competitions and test matches.
