MSSA's High School DotA 2 Ladder for 2019 is announced.

Oakhill School's 'Team Theory' in action.
Oakhill School not only leads the high schools' Dota 2 esports ladder, but also the high schools' Dota 2 esports rankings as the team has shown excellent skill and dedication to the sport. The school is to  be commended as a whole for its commitment to esports.

Through team-work Oakhill School's 'Team Theory' has done so well that the members of the team were awarded National Federation Colours when they were all selected to become members of the National Squad for the DotA 2 esports period.

There is no doubt that Oakhill School's Esports teams will continue to go from strength-to-strength.

Only a Registered Player that is ranked in the top ten positions on the ladder, may automatically qualify for National Team Selection. It is therefore vital for any player wishing to be considered for national team selection to actively participate in the Ladder.

The Ladder works on a system of challenges throughout the year in order to give clubs the opportunity to improve their teams/players' playing skills outside of the normal MSSA championships. The Ladder allows teams/players' to experiment with new tactics, combinations, etc.

Registered Players, through the Member Club to which they are affiliated, may challenge any Register Player on the ladder. Any Registered Player so challenged has 5 days within which to respond and play the match. Such rule allows the ladder to retain its dynamic nature and stops the challenged Registered Player from delaying unnecessarily.

However, any
Registered Player challenged during any official MSSA event while both such Registered Players are participating in such event, and are paired by the umpire to play against each other, must play such challenge. This means that any or all games in a MSSA Regional, Provincial, and/or National Championship may count as ladder games.

The full rules for the ladder may be found here:

Again Bishop's College takes the honours.

Bishop's DotA 1st team at MSSA's SA School National Championships where they earned their SA School Colours.
Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has just released the latest ladder results for the DotA 2 esports title. In September 2018, the Old Edwardian Mind Sports Club (OEMSC) - Mind Sports South Africa's oldest member club - snatched the lead from Sinister5.
    However,
Old Edwardian Mind Sports Club's (OEMSC) stay in pole position was short lived.

    Bishops College challenged
the Old Edwardian Mind Sports Club, the younger, and more energetic, Bishops DotA 2 team consists of Matthew von Bulow, Tristan Smith, Alaric McGregor, Karl stapelberg and Calum Fraser.

Bishop's DotA 1st team has shown commitment, dedication, and a much improved skill in 2018 as borne out by the school team's performance during the Online Provincial School Championships (where they obtained 1st place), and the SA School National Championships (where the team again toook 1st place). It should be noted that MSSA started its School Championships in 1996.

The Ladder works on a system of challenges.

Clubs may challenge any club on the ladder. Any club so challenged has 5 days within which to respond and play the match. Such rule allows the ladder to retain its dynamic nature and stops the challenged club from delaying unnecessarily.

    However, any
team challenged during any official MSSA event while both teams are participating in such event, and are paired by the umpire to play against each other, must play such challenge. This means that any or all games in a MSSA Regional, Provincial, and/or National Championship may count as ladder games.

    Official School StarCraft II rankings.

    Robert Storey from Bishops
With MSSA's annual online school championships going to be held on 11 February 2017 there is a flurry of activity at school level as well as within MSSA itself.

At school level, Educators and players are readying themselves for the championship, while at MSSA level, umpires and administrators are ensuring that everything is ready for the championship  in order to ensure that everyone has a pleasant experience.

MSSA has long believed that the growth of eSports as a sport is utterly dependant on a strong school championship system.

It is the learners who are going to be the next wave of players who will represent South Africa in international competition as members of the Protea team.

Already, many learners have benefitted by being included in the national teams. Few national teams have not had a component of learners. Through participation in MSSA events, no fewer than 12 learners have earned the right to participate in IeSF events.

Of course, as soon as the online school championships is completed new rankings  shall be published which shall be used for thee other upcoming school events, as well as ladder matches.

The rankings for the 2017 event is as follows:
