Up until now it has been the rule for Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) to announce the venue for National Team Trials (NTT) in the first week of May of each year.
This is because such Trials is always held in the province which delivers the most eligible Registered Players. As such, National Team Trials has the ability to be held in any province, and has in the past been held in KwaZulu Natal, Western Cape and Gauteng.
However, since the announcement of the venue just one month prior to such National Team Trials does not allow clubs that are far away from the venue adequate time to organise themselves in order to travel to the event, MSSA's Management Board has now allowed that the venue be announced within the 1st week of April of each year.
However, even though the two events, being MSSA's 2018 Online Provincial Championships, and MSSA's 2018 Mpumulanga Championships are held after such announcement date, both championships shall still count towards qualifying for the event, but shall have no bearing on determining the venue of such trials.
It should be further noted that MSSA's 2017 Online Provincial Championships, and MSSA's 2017 Mpumulanga Championships shall count towards determining the venue for the 2018 National Team Trials.
The date of the National Team Trials for esports remains unchanged and is 2 and 3 June 2018.
