Maritzburg College heads up MSSA's DotA 2 ladder.

The Maritzburg College DotA 2 team

Dota 2 is without  doubt one of the cornerstone games in MSSA's school leagues and championships.

The  game  has grown in popularity among the schools that already are in the official school championships as well helped 'grow' the number of  schools participating in the official leagues.

It is no surprise to see Maritzburg College DotA  2 eSports team taking the lead as the school has continuously participated in MSSA events giving them the  necessary practice and experience required for such types of competition.

In 2014 Maritzburg College was only ranked in 5th place and held n to such placing in 2015.
However, something 'clicked' in 2016 and the team was catapulted up to take the number one spot, although St John's College, St Alban's College and Parklands are all yapping on Maritzburg College's heels.

It will indeed be interesting to see which school is 'top-dog' and which school shall take the honours for this competition at the end of the year.
According to  the rules for the Ladder, teams are listed in accordance of ranking and may be challenged by teams that are ranked within five places of themselves. New teams enter at the bottom of the table and have to work their way to the top.
It is really quite encouraging to see so many school teams making their way up the table which bodes well for the future of gaming in South Africa.
