The university proved to be a great host for the first ever Sedibeng Championships, and the venue was packed to capacity. There is no doubt that this event will grow from strength to strength and will become even more popular in years to come.
Readers should be aware that MSSA awards Regional and Provincial Colours based on residency. Thus if a player lives in Sasolburg but plays in the Sedibengn Regional Championships and qualifies for Regional Colours, such player would still be awarded Fezile Dabi Regional Colours.
Excitement also ran high as Mxolisi Lukhele (Amplified Rebellion) continued with his winning ways in the esports game title of Tekken 7. There is no doubt that Mxolisi is busy preparing himself for the 2018 National Team Trials.
It was also most pleasing to see so many esports athletes from the newly affiliated NWU - Vaal doing well. Two titles were won by the university club with the club earning no less than 7 medals out of 29 issued
However,such was the level of sportsmanship displayed at the championship that the award for sportsmanship was given to Christopher Fenton (JCS Academy).
