Policy for selecting the official 2021/2022 National Esports Squads.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) to adapt to the changed circumstances. The National Team Trials (NTT) in both 2021 and 2022 were held online to take into account, and comply with, all government regulations.

Of course it is not desirable, or even perfect, to hold NTT online, but MSSA had very little choice.

Through hosting its NTT online, MSSA is not able to do as
comprehensive selection as in the past, and will instead simply select the winners at MSSA's 2021 Ntional Team Trials

Where possible, MSSA shall select a seniore and junior squad for both males and females in all esports titles where possible.

MSSA’s Management Board shall be entitled to add to members of the Squad or National Team on the following conditions:

  1. The Team Manager and the Team Captain shall make written representation to the Management Board requesting such player to be added, and
  2. Only players that participated at the National Team Trials that were used to select such team may be added to the Team.
  3. MSSA shall attempt to maintain the squads at their original strength, if there are sufficient numbers of players who competed at the National Team Trials.

The process has begun to select the national squad for Clash Royale.

Terrence Broomberg (Curro Aurora) has qualified for the national squad selection process at no fewer than three events.
"The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things: Of shoes—and ships—and sealing-wax— Of cabbages—and kings" (The Walrus and the Carpenter by Lewis Carroll).

Yes, once again it is time for Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) to select its national squads.

The squads too provide a pool of players from which the National Protea Teams that will represent South Africa in its various disciplines shall be drawn.

The system of selecting squads is a useful method for enforcing training as well as a player wish continually monitoring performance of those individuals who are so selected.

It is therefore vitally important that all athletes who have qualified, check the lists to ensure that there are no misstatements or omissions.

Should an athlete wish to make him/herself eligible for selection, then such athlete must write to mindsportscorrespondence@gmail.com
for all the necessary forms.

Oakhill School leads the schools' Dota 2 esports rankings.

Oakhill School's 'Team Theory' in action.
It is not surprising that Oakhill School leads the schools' Dota 2 esports rankings as the team has shown excellent skill and dedication to the sport.  Yet, none of it would have been for the tireless enthusiasm of the Educator-in-Charge, Diana Barnard.

Through team-work Oakhill School's 'Team Theory' has done so well that the members of the team were awarded National Federation Colours when they were all selected to become members of the National Squad for the DotA 2 esports period.

There is no doubt that Oakhill School's Esports teams will continue to go from strength-to-strength.

As esports become further rooted as a fully accredited sport, Oakhill will have established itself as a leader in the field.
