The game title 'League of Legends' has been played at IeSF's World Championships in 2013 (Baku), 2015 (Seoul), and 2016 (Jakarta).
The game is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game in which two teams of five fight for victory against one another. The teams each select five champions from a pool of such. Each champion has his/her own unique traits and abilities which adds a greater dimension to the game. A good draft can enable success, but a bad initial choice, can be devastating.
Its tactics and strategy inherent in the game lends itself well to competitive play and has amassed a huge following right across the world. In an interview with 'Forbes', Polygon’s Phil Kollar, Riot executives quietly confirmed that the game has 100 million monthly players.
Thus there can be no surprise that 'League of Legends' is again chosen by IeSF as a title for its World Championships to be held in Busan from 8 to 12 November 2017.
Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has sent a team across to all such events, and is confident that its 2017 team will be the strongest such team yet.
