Teams that represented South Africa at IeSF's World Championships in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. |
Thus
the system involves championships over a calendar year from Regional
Championship level, through to Provincial and National Championships.
In order to ensure growth and upward mobility of players, the School
Provincial and National Championships are included in producing
candidates for the National Team Trials that is used to select the
national team.
Obviously,
the MSSA is very strict in terms of observing its own rules, as such
rules allows Protea
Colours to be awarded to such official team.
The Protea Colours
awarded to the eSports team are the same colours that are awarded to
South Africa's other sports teams.
Thus
the championships, as per the official Calendar of Events, used to find candidates for National Team Trials are:
-
School Online Provincial Championships
-
All Regional Championships
-
All Online Provincial Championships
-
All Provincial LAN Championships
-
MSSA's South African National Championships
Please
note if championships do not specifically state that they are online,
then such championship is a LAN.
As a
result of this system, MSSA has had entries for its championships
from 7 out of South Africa's nine provinces.
MSSA, is the only body in South Africa that holds events in as many provinces and regions as possible.
Thus Protea Team members have been drawn from from all but two provinces since 2005.
