Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) is fully aware of the need to have gender equity on its Management Board, as only through such equity can meaningful change be enacted and sustainable growth promoted.
Thus, at MSSA's Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on 3 December 2017, the group of member clubs gathered there, with one voice, passed the change to the Constitution that only allows males to be co-opted if less than 50% of the committee is already comprised of males.
Such motion effectively destroys the 'old-school-tie' network and enforces even greater gender equity.
Thus even if the position was held by a male, and such male resigns, if there are already 50% or more of the positions occupied by males, then only a female may be co-opted.
MSSA has already witnessed huge growth as a result of promoting gender equality, and expects even greater growth in the 2017/2018 season.
