Morabaraba is also known as African Chess and is played by over 40% of South Africans on a recreational basis.

The latest rankings for Morabaraba take into account MSSA's 15th Free State Championships and MSSA's 24th KwaZulu Natal Championships. 

North West University - Vaal still maintains its dominence in the game by having the top three ranked players in the country.

Nevertheless both Amahle Mtshali and Rachel Foli (Empangeni High School) after having jointly won MSSA's 24th KwaZulu Natal Championships have shot into the country's top ten players.
